Two petite Japanese ladies wearing impossibly high cork platforms enter a bakery and, in broken German, order two croissants. One of them politely asks if she can eat in the bakery. The baker shrugs her shoulders and says, “yeah – if you want, you can also turn on the tap and take a bath in here, I really don’t mind.”

Saturday, 3 a.m., Picknik Club
Finally inside Picknick after a long queue. First things first, off to the bar. The music is good, the music is loud…and the guy over there keeps looking over at me. I glance back. He smiles. He’s coming over. We chat, smile, make eye contact. Then I say, can I get your number. And he’s like, here just take my mobile. He puts it in my hand, smiles and disappears into the crowd. Just like that. I stand there with his mobile and laugh. The night is off to a good start.
